Workplace Mentoring Lead: Help Mentor Canada Transform Workplaces Through Mentoring
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director, Research & Impact, and indirectly to the Executive Director, the Workplace Mentoring Lead will support the advancement of Mentor Canada’s mission by inspiring corporate entities to grow and deepen their adoption and integration of mentoring within the workplace. This contract position will provide leadership to develop and positively influence workplace mentoring systems in an effort to impact workplace culture with employers, and to support youth to build social capital, skills and knowledge needed to navigate and succeed in the world of work. The position will lead the process of shaping and implementing new and existing initiatives as well as establish and support community engagement and leveraging quality mentoring across sectors, workforce development and corporate initiatives and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategize around opportunities for employees to become more engaged through mentoring
- Coach, provide technical assistance and capacity building consultation to corporate partners, work integrated learning programs, career readiness programs and organizations to develop quality mentoring programs and activities for employees or community partners.
- Promote the critical importance of quality mentoring practices within places of work.
- Lead the development and scaling of evidence-informed workplace mentoring trainings, tools, and resources with the goal of building the capacity of diverse organizations, corporations and stakeholders to implement quality mentoring programs and initiatives to impact youth, equity deserving employee engagement, retention and success in the workforce.
- Provide tailored guidance and build the capacity of diverse businesses and organizations to develop, implement, and evaluate quality mentoring programs in a wide variety of contexts
- Support the adoption, evaluation, and evolution of Mentor Canada’s Quality Mentoring System (QMS) and Principles of Quality Mentoring
- Collaborate with partners, stakeholders and subject matter experts in program concept, tool development and delivery

- Manage the needs of corporate and community partners who are developing, implementing and supporting workplace mentoring programs.
- Develop and deliver training (synchronous in person, virtual, and asynchronous) including train-the-trainer sessions to mentoring program practitioners and professionals on effective mentoring practices and processes for organizations, mentors, and mentees
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Master’s degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited university.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven work experience or a combination of relevant graduate studies experience and professional experience in private sector initiatives, post-secondary work integrated learning, capacity-building or quality improvement in the mentoring, social impact, or the talent development sectors.
- Ability to work and communicate in French and English is required.
- Knowledge of effective mentoring practices in private sector and industry workplace settings or youth employment sector is essential, knowledge of effective mentoring practices in the youth development field is an asset.
- Strong understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles and practices. Commitment to promoting inclusion, intersectionality and diversity in mentoring practices. GBA+ training is an asset.
- Ability to apply research findings and develop research-informed solutions for mentoring programs.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with partners and stakeholders. Adaptability to work with diverse groups and individuals.
- Ability to facilitate engaging and effective training sessions and presentations in-person and virtually. Familiarity with adult learning and online learning best practices is an asset.
