Power of Mentoring events connect youth aged 18-30, with mentors, prospective employers, and the Canadian labour market. Hosted in partnership with private sector businesses, service providers and schools across Canada, Power of Mentoring events invite you to engage in one-time, one-of-a-kind career conversations with mentors who want to support your success. 

By participating in a Power of Mentoring event, you will: 

  • Learn how to build relationships and grow your network; 

  • Speak directly with industry leaders; 

  • Get answers to your burning career-related questions; 

  • Gain the confidence to take these skills out into the real world.

A Mentoring Networking event at Deloitte Toronto

Deloitte is teaming up with Mentor Canada as part of its 2024-2025 Impact Season to host a unique Power of Mentoring event in their Toronto offices on November 28th from 9-3pm ET. This opportunity comes at a critical time as Canada shifts to economic recovery and looks to engage more youth in the labour market. 

Over the course of a single day, a diverse team of 10-15 Deloitte leaders will directly interact with 20-30 young leaders aged 18-30, supporting them in strengthening skills and gathering insights to advance their academic, career, and life goals.

The Toronto Power of Mentoring experiences will run from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm and will include five elements, in addition to a welcome, land acknowledgement, and interactive icebreaker activity:

  • 9:00-9:45 am Welcome and Micro Mentoring Part 1 (45 minutes) – Mentor Canada facilitated career mentoring with Deloitte partners and professionals.
  • 9:45- 11:00 Business Chemistry (90 Minutes) - Deloitte program on assessing natural tendencies and strengthening interpersonal skills. Activity to explore Business Chemistry, how to use this to your career/work advantage, insights to evolving your Business Chemistry, debriefing and break built in.
  • Break 10 minutes.
  • 11:15-12:00 Pathways & Perspectives (45 minutes: 30-minute panel, 15-minute Q&A), a Mentor Canada facilitated discussion with a Regional Managing Partner and 2 additional leaders representing diversity in demographics, experience, and perspectives. The focus of the discussion is on their career experiences and insights for early career talent. This section includes Q&A.
  • 12:00-12:45 Lunch (45 Minutes)
  • 12:45 1:35 Career Circuit (50 minutes) 1-2 rounds - small group mentoring to garner insights into careers and core business units at Deloitte. Young leaders will have the opportunity to engage in small group mentoring discussions to ask questions, seek advice, gain knowledge on emerging careers and insights into emerging skills for work of the future. Resources and Career Conversation Guides provided by Mentor Canada.
  • 1:35-1:55 Micro Mentoring Part 2 (20 Minutes) – Mentor Canada facilitated career mentoring with Deloitte partners and professionals.
  • Break 5 minutes.
  • 2:00-3:00 Fireside Chat with AV, President and CEO Deloitte Canada.
  • 3:00- 3:30 Group Reflection (30-minutes) – Mentor Canada facilitated.
